Netflix finally comes to the WD TV media player series with the release of WD TV Live Plus. The MSRP for the WD TV Live Plus is set decently at $149 which seems to be the norm, but you can find it for roughly $125 on Amazon.
While a firmware update to the WD TV Live would have been awesome for customers who already own the unit, it is said to have been impossible according to Western Digital.
Unfortunately supporting Netflix is not possible on the current WDTV Live platform. This requires additional hardward component and content protection mechanism. We understand this is a very hot idea and we will keep this in mind for the future.
Having to buy an entirely new device for enhancements definitely sucks. Nonetheless, it’s finally here and another great option for Netflix streaming.
